The Robusto Brasil is Dona Flor’s entry point: an all-Brazilian blend in the most forgiving size, at the most forgiving price in the range.

It smokes earthy and mellow, with cocoa and a touch of nuttiness, and the sweet-sour Bahian note sits far enough back that it reads as complexity rather than novelty. Construction is good, and the burn is even.

Medium-bodied, around 45 minutes to an hour. Start here if you are new to Brazilian tobacco, then move up to the Mata Fina 90 and the Pirâmide.
