Omar Ortez is a Nicaraguan house that has built its reputation on making genuinely good cigars at prices that do not make sense on paper. The Connecticut Robusto is the mildest cigar in the range and probably the best introduction to it.

A pale golden Connecticut shade wrapper over Nicaraguan filler gives cream, cashew and a light toast character, with just enough Nicaraguan earth underneath to stop it being bland.

Mild to medium. Construction is consistently good — even burn, straight ash and a draw that does not tighten. An everyday cigar in the best sense.
